A chance to see how the Adders are getting on at May Beck. Meet in the May Beck car park at 9.00. Please wear stout shoes as some of the walking can be off prepared footpaths – this is optional. Contact Rob Stark on 07737400962
There is a chance of Brown long-eared bats swarming in early spring and we intend to see what we find at this site after having success with the autumn swarming last year. It will be a long night and warm clothing plus RED torches, a flask and sandwiches. Please contact Nick Gibbons on 07790 113025 if you are interested.
In addition to our Adder walk on the 26th March Andrew Hutchinson has kindly offered to take a group to see some of the sites he monitors on Friday 8th April.
It is likely to be in the Cropton area and involves driving on Forest tracks. Numbers of cars will be limited so we may have to limit numbers. This walk may be of interest to anyone wanting a more in depth knowledge of our reptiles or especially those who may want to help in monitoring. The last trip was a full day.

Meet at Cropton Cabins car park (SE 757 917) at 2.00pm. We will be doing some updates to the boxes at Keldy with 10 modified boxes as a trial. Please contact Nick Gibbons at nicholas.gibbons123@btinternet.com if you are interested. You will need to book for this event and numbers will be limited. We will be checking the boxes using endoscopes and only removing a limited number of bats for training purposes to reduce the potential for covid transmission.
There is a requirement for all members attending this event must be fully vaccinated and we will be asking for evidence of this at the start of every event. In addition to this any PPE specified i.e. masks and nitrile gloves, hand wash will all be supplied but the event leaders.
We are going to check the three sets of boxes in Dalby and Pexton bank. Meet at the entrance to the Forest Drive at the Pickering end at 10.00am (Grid Ref – SE 848 855). Bring a packed lunch. We will be putting additional ppe and handling requirements in place to limit the chance of us transmitting covid to the bats.
