MINUTES OF MEETING HELD ON: 10th October 2016
VENUE: University of Hull Scarborough Campus. ATTENDANCE: 20 Members & guests.
CHAIRMAN: Brian Walker, the Secretary was in the chair
APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE: John Hume, Frank Sheader
MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING(s): Minutes from 13th September were not available.
MATTERS ARISING: None.
CORRESPONDENCE RECEIVED: The Yorkshire Naturalists’ Union Bulletin, the YGS autumn programme and the YWT ‘s Wildlife Yorkshire had been received and were available for members to borrow..
ANNOUNCEMENTS: The secretary advised members of the Presidents health problems and Robin Hopper advised members of the Treasurers forthcoming hip replacements. It was agreed to send cards from the Society to both.
RECORDS AND REPORTS:
Janice Morritt reported jack snipe in Stainsacre Lane, Fylingthorpe.
Nick gibbons reported on the first recorded bat from the artificial hibernaculum in Dalby Forest and some discussion on bats followed.
Robin Hopper reported on the influx of eastern migrant bird in recent days, these included; At Scarborough Pallas’s warbler (S side of castle), Lapland bunting (Long Nab), Yellow-browed warbler (Town), little bunting (Cloughton Wyke); Bempton Red-breasted flycatcher, Arctic warbler,braambling, Goldcrest, Black-browed albertross, Flamborough Pallas’s warbler, hawfinch, firecrest, olive pipit, great grey shrike, little bunting.

Brian spoke on the nature and diversity of trees with example from nearby forest to North America.
The date of the next meeting is 8th November. The speaker is Dr Chris Hewson from the BTO with a talk on ‘Bird Tracking and Monitoring’
