We will do our regular check on the old railway tunnel at Ravenscar to see search for any hibernating bats.
Meet at 10.00am at the National Trust visitor centre at Ravenscar. Wear suitable clothes for an underground activity and stout shoes or boots are recommended as it is often quite wet in the tunnel and can be slippery getting down into the cutting. A talk by Brian Walker about 50 years of studying May Moss and its importance for both wildlife and climate change.
You are invited to the YWT Filey beach survey on 1st April, meeting at the Filey Country Park café at 11.30. There will be some ‘rock hopping’ required on the Brigg but for anyone not feeling they wish to do this he there will be someone staying with you and keeping you interested. Stout footwear and a packed lunch would be useful.

Louise Thompson will lead a walk down Sawdondale to see what we can find in the way of wildlife. Meet at junction of Middle Lane and Main Street (SE942849) for a 10.00am departure. Car sharing may be useful to minimise parking issues.

Joyce Scott will give us a talk on how to get into lichens.
This is a two day meeting and is non-residential so members can come to either or both days. It is a chance to meet members from other groups. The format on the day depends on what people want but normally people splits into groups to survey a specific area or to look at specific taxa. Beginners and experts mix together as a learning experience. There is an optional meeting Sunday afternoon in a local village hall to discuss and collate the finds.
