We will sit and see what bat activity there is around the windy pit regarding swarming and what activity there is at the new entrance. It can be a long night so bring some suitable clothing, chair and some food/drink. We will be within the FC locked gates so access will have to be as a group going in and out unless you have your own pass key. We will try and car share to make things easier on the forest roads. Note the car park has a time limit on it so best to park nearby but please be respectful of access to adjacent properties. Bring a collection container and sieve or similar. We will be supporting the Whitby Nats on a point survey at Egton Bridge. We will meet at Egton Bridge in the parking area between St Hedda’s church and the railway line (NZ80440535) at 6.40 where spots will be allocated and any questions re use of the detectors sorted out. Would mean leaving Scarborough at ca 17.30hrs. We will try to arrange car sharing. Contact Nick Gibbons if you are interested.

The Beavers have now been in residence for 6 years and intensive studies have been carried out on their impact on the wildlife and hydrology of the site. Cath Bashforth (FC ecologist) will bring us up to date with what is happening now and the results of the monitoring and, also where we go from here.
