A chance to look at a really floral rich meadow and get to grips with some of the flowering plants. Please book with Rob Stark if you are interested in attending.
We will be doing a botany survey of a couple of meadows at White Lodge farm at Langdale end. The fields are kept ‘rough’ for the nesting barn owls which live there. As it gets dark we will stay and do a point survey to see what bats are using the area. Contact Louise Thompson or Nick Gibbons if you are interested.
Meet at the Mill entrance on approach road to Dalby Forest from Thornton-le-Dale at 9.00pm.
Meet at Reasty bank car park at 8.30pm for an evening to see Nightjars. Contact Rob Stark if you are interested.
Another chance to see al that wildlife they we so often ignore on our doorstep. A small net and a collecting dish are useful. Meet at Holbeck car park 1.30pm. Low tide is 3pm at 0.9m.
A chance to do a botany survey on a couple of meadows left rough for wildlife, including Barn owls and then to stay on and see what bats are using the area. This is a re-arranged meeting we had to cancel for bad weather. There are cut paths but for the botany we will be walking through rough grass so stout footwear is essential.
As last year Ian Popely is having an Open Garden afternoon on 29th July at Broxa in aid of Pulmonary fibrosis charity. This would have been Ian and Pauline’s 45th Wedding anniversary and close to Pauline’s birthday on 1st Aug. The garden will be open 2- 4:30pm and there is adequate parking space. Tea and cakes will be available and a donations box will be available.
Ian will organise a tombola or raffle or maybe ‘guess how many Phlox Paniculata Pauline had in her garden collection’ – good fun and I hope he can find the answer. £1 a guess and a nice prize for the winner. There will also be a book stall again.
Ian sends his thanks you in advance for support of the event. For info: he has set up a memory garden on Pauline’s behalf: https://www.tearfund.org/campaigns/in-memory/memory-garden?#tribute
We hope to see some of you there.
Another chance to do some rock-pooling and see some of the strange and wonderful species on our doorstep. A small net and collection dish are useful. Meet at car park at end of Bridge Holme Lane 12pm. Low tide is 1.50pm at 0.54m
