We are having a stand a stand at the Raincliffe Woods open day. We will be highlighting the work of the Scarborough Field Nats and having various children’s activities etc. We will be looking for help during the day and if you can assist even for a few hours please contact either Rob Stark or one of the committee. Times above include setting up and also packing away. If anyone has a gazebo we could borrow for the day that would be really helpful.
Jane Pottas will lead an exploration of the rockpools and shoreline at the lowest tide of the year. Low water 12.36. Refreshments available in café afterwards. Meet at top of path to beach, NZ915108 at 11.00am. Limited parking beside the road to Whitby Holiday Park, or walk along the Cleveland Way from Whitby. Wear footwear suitable for getting wet.
Car sharing would be best. If parking at the Abbey then need to add 20-30 mins for getting to the cliff top at Saltwick. Also it is a steep path down into the bay.
A second go at this local wetland site to see what we can find. In 2022 a reduced survey has a number of potential Nathusius’ and Whiskered bats.
A chance to bring up anything of interest by members during the summer break and for reports on Fungi. Moths and butterflies, Plants and Birds by our Society recorders.
