We have now found that July 16th clashes with an FC meeting which will take priority for most of the committee so we will leave this event for this year and try again in 2020.
We are going to check the bat activity that we found around the centre of the village and also do some recording in Revenge Wood as the card in the bat detector there failed on our first survey. Please contact Nick Gibbons on 07790 113025 if you can help.
As most of you will know the Society has been doing a repeat of Peter Robinson’s 1993 botanical survey of Deepdale. Apart from the botanical survey we have also been gathering records of as many other groups as possible and will also have a bat survey there on 9th August. To ‘celebrate’ FC are having an open day on the site and all members are invited. Hopefully we should also be able to generate some more records for the site on the day so bring your field guides etc! Exact timings, access etc will be posted when finalised.
This is now confirmed. Meet at Brompton Village hall at 8.15. There will be a bat talk prior to the survey and villagers are being invited to participate. Contact Nick Gibbons for further details (firstname.lastname@example.org).
This will be point survey to back up the repeat of the 1993 botanical survey of this site by Peter Robinson that we are repeating this year. Meet at Bickley Gate car park (SE911911) at 20.00. Contact Nick Gibbons for further details (email@example.com).
This date has now been confirmed. Meet at the entrance (SE948953) at 19.45. Contact Nick Gibbons for further details (firstname.lastname@example.org).
A talk by Sam Newton on one of our most declining and iconic species – water voles.
A talk by Alan Rhodda and Philip Winter on moths and what we may expect in our local moth traps. Remember we have a moth trap available for members use with all the relevant books, collection pots etc.
