Reighton Ponds

On the 30th John Hume went to Reighton Ponds and found four broad bodied chaser dragonflies, and an orchid which may be southern marsh orchid. Later he went to Fordon Chalk Bank where sightings included, brown argus butterfly, ringlets, small heath, skippers, marbled whites and a painted lady.
At Ganton by the confluence of the Rivers Derwent and Hertford there was a male banded demoiselle.

At the small quarry above Sherburn (now sadly very overgrown) there were a number of common twayblades and a solitary fragrant orchid

Earlier in the week he noticed that a rotting tree stump, in his garden, had been attacked by some unknown animal, presumably trying to get at a colony of tree bumblebees.
