MINUTES OF MEETING HELD ON: 24th March 2015 at 7-30pm. VENUE: University of Hull Scarborough Campus. ATTENDANCE: 40 Members & guests. CHAIRMAN: Robin Hopper. Geol. Soc. summer programme. York. Wildlife Trust Spring Newsletter. ANNOUNCEMENTS: Details of evening field trip to Bempton and next indoor meeting.
RECORDS AND REPORTS: Steve Bushell followed up his report at the last meeting of up to 50 dead frogs in his pond at Broadhead Farm, near Troutsdale with news that there were now around 500 live and healthy frogs at the pond. He had also seen an adder out basking. John Hume exhibited photographs of local wildlife seen over the last month including, elf cup fungus, green hellebore, lesser celandine & marsh marigold. He also showed nice photographs of a cow and calf harbour porpoise off the Marine Drive, Scarborough and red kite at Nunburnholme. David Bowen showed video footage of the rough-legged buzzard seen of the Wolds recently. SPEAKER FOR THE EVENING: James Aegerter, Animal & plant Health Agency,
TITLE/SUBJECT OF TALK: Bats in churches.
MAIN CONTENT OF TALK: James Aegeter gave an outstanding presentation recent studies of bats and there habits associated with churches, notably ‘All Saints at Ellerburn near Thornton le Dale. The President Mr Hopper gave the vote of thanks.
