MINUTES OF MEETING HELD ON: 8th November 2016
VENUE: University of Hull Scarborough Campus. ATTENDANCE: 22 Members & guests.
CHAIRMAN: The President, John Hume was in the Chair.
APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE: Frank Sheader, who thanked members for the best wishes card.

CORRESPONDENCE RECEIVED: None
ANNOUNCEMENTS: The Annual general Meeting was to be held on Tuesday 6th December 2016 at the current venue. Nominations for officers and committee were needed at the next meeting. The President, John Hume announced that due to ongoing health issues he would be stepping down as President at the end of the year. Due to Hull University quitting the Scarborough Campus the society would have to find a new venue from September 2017,
RECORDS AND REPORTS:
Steve Bushell reported fallow deer in Givendale
Pauline Popely reported yellow-wort (Blackstonia) and crossbills in Langdale Forest.
Janice Morritt reported 1000+ geese on stubble near Warter on the wolds. 7/8 roe deer had been seen near Hayburn Wyke as well as snipe, teal, mallard, redwing, bullfinch and crossbills.
Melanie Earle reported large numbers of bramblings on Long Causeway at Wykeham as well as barn owl, redwing, fieldfare, mixed finches, buzzard and stoat.
Robin Hopper reported waxwings at Crossgates and Pickering. An eastern black redstart had been photographed at Cayton.

‘Bird Tracking and Monitoring’
Chris Hewson gave an impressive talk on some of the work being carried out by the BTO on threatened migrants, in particular cuckoo, nightjar and swift. The work involved cutting edge technology using satellite tags and transmitters.
The date of the next meeting is 8th November. This is a members evening.
